MoViE SuMmArY

Disney's Cinderella is ordered around by everyone! Her cruel step-mother, her terrible step-sisters, and even the clock that starts her busy morning! No matter how far they push her, they will never be able to stop her from dreaming. Cinderella does say that dreams are a wish your heart makes, and this young "princess" has many of her own. An invitation for the ball arrives and her evil step-mother tells Cinderella she may go if she gets every chore completed. The step-sisters make this physically impossible! They rip her dress to shreds! With the help of her fairy-god mother, and a few more helpful hands, she gets to attend the ball. The rest, is a fairy tale history.

"No matter how your heart is grieving, if you keep on believing, the dreams that you wish will come true ..." This is the quote that I live by. When we were asked to pick a movie, my head started spinning. I began thinking so hard, trying to figure out which movie is best for my interest. I then found Cinderella. It seems like this movie is one of those movies that never get old, no matter your age. Although, after reading some reviews, I was afraid that their words would change my outlook on this amazing movie, but it didn't.

English Writing #3

Personal Testimony:
I'm not sure really why I choose ROC as my advertisement.  I wanted to do something different from everyone else in the class.  I knew I wanted to do something involving the face and medicine.  I have always had trouble with acne and I am a victim of trying those countless products that don't work.  Not to mention all the money that was spent!  After searching for a while, I found ROC.  It's not acne medicine but it still can relate.  It is an anti-aging cream.  It is said to be able to lift and define.

Counter Argument:
I am wondering just how affective this cream is, and what people think about it.  Does this really give customer satisfaction? What if people were allergic to it?  What are the long-term affects of this?  Can people use it to much?  This would be terrible if someone's face swelled due to the products in this cream.

Mystery meat and giggles!

When I first started reading this assignment, I almost peed my pants from laughing so hard. No guys, I'm not playing; I really sat back and thought "Mrs. Williams is really not going to make us read about spam." As I continued to read, I chuckled at myself because I couldn't believe how into this article I was. Judy Chu, who wrote the essay, explains what spam means to her. The memories and thoughts she can recall are endless. My favorite part in this article is where they relate the "spam mail" to "spam." It is true, when someone says spam I often think of e-mail rather than a mystery meat. It's amazing to think how quickly we are to judge, and yet many of us say we are not guilty of such a crime! I find it rather interesting that we are quick on our feet when it comes to explaining how gross something is that we never have tried. Humans are very judgemental. I honestly think, after reading this article, I might just go buy some spam.

It won't let me post my comment so.,

I wanted to post on Michael's blog that I am interested in his topic.  With the endless amount of research he has, I think this will be good for his project!  It seems like he has a lot to work with, yet he has narrowed it down enough!  Good Luck!

Advertise this

My advertisment is over ROC. This is an enhancer for the skin. It's supposed to renew itself revealing new, younger looking skin as it complements your skin! Sounds perfect right? The problem is it says "Ten Years Back." Does this mean you'll look ten years younger, or do you get ten years back? It also states this as a PROMISE. I'm pretty excited about this assignment.

-Wealth-

Wealth is much more than how much of what you own is worth. To me, it has nothing to do with money.  You are wealthy if you can wake up every morning with what you went to sleep with.  A personal experience of mine including wealth has to deal with my younger years.  When I was in second grade, my brother was in pre-school.  Each and every day my mother got us ready for school and with no vehicle she walked my brother to school, me to school, and then walked herself home. Never the less, she also got us from school. We lived in a very small apartment, but we were thankful for every waking moment.  By no means did we have it easy at all.  My parents both worked what seemed like all the time.  If I can remember a distinct moment of my life, this would be it.  Every night at dinner, which often included canned items, we'd go around the table talking about one thing that we were thankful for that day.  My brother always seemed to say the seat he was sitting in, so we didn't have to have dinner on the floor.  This moment was impacting for me. I have realized that it doesn't matter what you own, how much it cost, or even what it's worth.  What matters is what's always going to be there, and that's family. The wealth of your life includes your health, your friends, and most important your family.

October 1st

I am not one to be interested in history, so when I first started reading this post I was thinking "oh great." As I started to read the assigned I couldn't believe how easy it was to keep reading! It really had me going, it had sparked and kept my interest. This book I believe is like the bible when it comes to our history. It's such an important factor. It's also scary to think that after WWII, there were more expected terrible events to come.

I've always looked at Adolf Hitler as such a horrible person, and to be honest it sends chills up and down my spine realizing what he's done in the past to people. I had a rough time posting his picture on my blog. I don't understand how you can that cruel. He always seems like he is trying to persuade!

A fact that interested me was they blamed everything on Man. After I got to thinking about this, I realized, it really is our fault. Things with the environment wouldn't be this horrible if Man weren't here, but who really wants to think of us this way?

I like the conclusion of this assignment. It leaves it open-ended, just enough to make you think, but also by giving you information to process.

Group Presentations Anyone?

I have to admit, I'm not the person to pick groups when it comes to assignments. I consider myself bossy. I grew up being the only girl in my family, and due to this, I was always bossing the boys around. I believe this trait has stuck with me. When it comes to group work, I try to stay focused on the topic and I often find myself as the leader. I take a lot upon myself to make sure everything goes the way it is supposed to, kind of like a director. But who doesn't want things to go right? It's your grade right?

I am nervous about our presentation. College is so different. Ten minutes for a presentation. I think I about peed my pants in speech class when I had to talk for five. I am thankful that I got the group I did, because I know they are just as nervous as I am.

Envision This (pgs. 254-269;271-276)

This reading section was over delivering presentations. I was happy to see they used Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s famous "I Have a Dream" speech as an example. I feel this is a great way to get there idea across. Before this section, I had to idea what understanding the branches of oratory meant. Now, it is divided into three "branches." These are based on time, purpose, and content. Organization is key when it comes to your presentation. The hardest part is the translation step. This is the final step! This is where you take your text you want read, and make it into something you want heard. Finally, you have your delivery. This includes gesture, posture, voice, pacing, visuals, and style. These "tips" were fundamental for our project!

Did you know.?

Have you ever thought that technology could actually out smart a human being? After watching the "Did You Know?" video off of you tube, I was astonished to find out that this could very well be possible. To think that a robot could perform everday human activities stresses me out to be honest. Our country is becoming very advanced. I know that with each passing day, technology is growing faster and faster. Take our cell phones for instance, we communicate this way. While watching the video, it gives stats on how many text messages are sent in day. I never paid attention to how many I sent, until after this movie. The video is shown by using pictures and words as a slideshow. The music makes a great sound track for the video. It gives a chance of fear, but yet it's soothing. The only thing that disturbed me about this video was that the United States may not be the number one english speaking country, Great Britain may very well be. It's amazing what you learn when you sit back and listen to someone when they say did you know?

Literacy-

This hand-out opened my eyes in more ways than one. I love the three year old's determination to read. He doesn't care what it is he's going to read or what extent it takes to get his material, he's going to read. Sometimes I feel if we all had this mind-set maybe the world would be a better place. I am moved by the grandma's way of raising the boy. As far as the story of the girl who did very well in school, but couldn't pass the profiency test, I can relate. I too have been a straight A student for as long as I can remember, but when it comes to the SAT I scored horrible! She seems like a perfectionist. It can get so frustrating when your trying your best, and you are doing nothing but failing. It was interesting to me to finally hear her end results, after she stopped putting so much pressure on herself. Maybe I should try that? I am inspired by Malcom X's determination also, to make himself useful while in prison. He knew he still had a life to live as soon as he got out. He took advantage of his situation. I can't imagine the pain or not to mention headache's he must of had after writing the entire dictionary. He proves that practice makes perfect. As long as you give everything you have, that's more than enough.
